ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lisa Inouye Beppu, based in Phoenix, Arizona, is an artist whose talent for painting was, for many years, packed away in some unseen corner of her imagination while she was in the business of life. However, after finding out about her long lost father and learning he was an exceptional professional artist, she once again took brush in hand and is now passionately following in her father’s footsteps.

Having been deaf since birth, Lisa Beppu has never let it stand in the way of doing the things she wants to do. She started drawing at an early age and continued her art through college, where she graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design with an Illustration concentration. After college she used her artistic talents as a Graphic Designer in a variety of media.

Lisa’s inspiration and passion for painting derives for her father, Jerry Beppu, who Lisa found about in 2019. He was an exceptional artist/sculptor and his work was displayed in galleries throughout Northern California. Jerry was also the long-time art director for the nationally syndicated newspaper “The San Jose Mercury News.”

Primarily painting with oils, Lisa also works in acrylics, watercolors and colored pencil. Drawing on her father’s inspiration for endangered species, Lisa’s art blurs the lines of realism with a touch of whimsical irony in paintings of endangered animals and plants. As a tribute to her father, she will be donating ten percent of all proceeds to help save endangered wildlife through various associations around the world. She hopes one day to have her art displayed in galleries and fine arts festivals, just like her father. She also does consignment paintings of family pets.
